Obituary for Dennis L. Martin

Dennis Lee Martin, age 73, died peacefully on August 5, 2017, with his family by his side. Raised in Stinnett, Texas, Dennis joined the Navy after high school. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam war. After relocating to Seattle, he began his career as a skilled printing press operator and retired from Print Northwest in 2006. (It is likely that in his long career, he never once called in sick to work, and he somehow made it to all of his children’s sporting and other events without fail.) He eventually settled in Graham, where he and his wife, Sherry, created a loving home for their blended family. Dennis enjoyed his backyard sanctuary and trout pond, where he taught his grandchildren to fish.
Dennis was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Martin; his children and step-children, John and Bonnie Martin, Sarah Martin and Chris Schenck, James and Sonia McVey, and Jodi and James Johnson; six grandchildren, Makayla, Benjamin, Eliana, Niamh, Siobhan, Tristan, and one on the way, Declan; and his parents-in-law, Jim and Katheryn Talbot. He was predeceased by his parents, Donnie and Lenora Martin; his brother, Charles Martin; and his sister, Vicki O’Gorman, of Texas. A burial service with military funeral honors will be held on February 20, 2018, 11:30 at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
