Obituary for Mae M. Saxon

Mae Marie Saxon of Yelm, Washington passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 7th, 2018 in Tacoma, Washington. She was born to the late Jay and Dollie Rudd on May 30,1923 and was a graduate of Everett High School. Mae was married to George Eugene Saxon, who preceded her in death. They enjoyed many wonderful years of marriage together.

Mae was a woman of strong, joyful faith and was dedicated to serving God, her family, and her community. She was a member of New Life Christian Center in Yelm, Washington for thirty years. There she was enthusiastically involved in many activities, from helping in the church school to leading Bible studies in her nearby home. Mae was also dedicated to reaching out to the community she loved, including service at local soup kitchens and befriending any in need.

Mae Saxon had a contagious exuberance for life. If you had the pleasure of knowing Mae, you would always be greeted by a warm hug, and a bright word of encouragement. One of her favorite verses from the Bible says, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” She exemplified this each and every day.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and delighted in hosting and sharing time with friends and family at her lakeside home. She enjoyed family gatherings, social activities, travel, waterskiing and painting. Mae also had a passion for color and interior decorating.

Mrs. Saxon will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Glenna Meyer of Gig Harbor, her son Brad Garrison of Tacoma, four grandchildren, Chris Meyer (Gig Harbor), Lisa Proctor (Costa Mesa, CA), David Garrison (Puyallup), Lori Karr (Puyallup), 10 great-grand children, and one great-great-grandchild.

A Celebration of Mae's life will be held at Fir Lane Memorial Park (924 176th St E, Spanaway, WA) at 10 am on Saturday, March 17th.
