Obituary for Evelyn R. Mullen

Evelyn was born in Tacoma and spent her younger years in Ruston with her parents and siblings, Doris and Pete. She graduated from Stadium High School. During those years, she took part in a number of extracurricular opportunities and especially enjoyed musical activities.

Bob and Evelyn were married on June 5, 1943. Their son Bob was born in 1944 and daughter Cheryl in 1948. Bob's Air Force career took the family to Germany. Evelyn drove the kids cross country in the dead of winter to catch the ship from New York to Germany. A very brave lady.

A stay at home mom, she was a fantastic cook and baker. She loved to garden and read. For years she was a faithful Sunday school teacher, and was active in many of the church ladies groups. The family enjoyed traveling in the summer. Great memories were made at Alta Lake where they camped with their extended family, the Shedrocks.

In the morning, she could often be seen with her open Bible in her lap, praying for the needs of others. She was outgoing, a lively table game player and was a generous, giving woman. Frequently, when someone was in need, she would deliver several bags of groceries to them.

Evelyn loved her entire family. She and Bob shared almost 67 years of marriage, setting a special example of commitment, love and loyalty. Janet and Peter called her mother-in-law. Liz & husband Scott, and Joel & wife Navia knew her as Grandma, while Andy and Emma loved Great Grandma.

Above all others, she loved Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior, and we rejoice that He has lovingly called her to her eternal, heavenly home.
