Obituary for John D. Nichols

John (Nick) David Nichols Of Tacoma, Washington, passed on to be with his soulmate and wife of 55 years on October 27th, 2017, after a brief and sudden illness. He left this world as he lived in it, with his family by side and listening to his favorite piano music. Nick was born to Alice and Earnest Nichols of Beckville, Texas on May 4, 1942. His life led him to join the U.S. Army, and while stationed at Fort Lewis he met his wife, Donna Darlene Nichols, settled in Tacoma, Washington, and together raised their two daughters. After a long and fruitful career as a Master Sergeant he retired from the US Army Reserves. He lived his life to the fullest and loved his family and friends with all of his heart. He loved to share his enthusiasm for his many hobbies with anyone and everyone. He is survived by his sister Esther (Richard) Watson, daughter Laura (Tom) Roberts, daughter Jennifer (Marvin) Oliver, and grandchildren Stephanie Cox, Brittney Oliver, and Nicholas Oliver. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him; and all who knew him loved him. He now walks in heaven with his wife and true love for eternity. Services will be held at 1:00 pm November 18th, at Fir Lane Memorial Park, 924 East 176th St., Spanaway, WA 98387. Friends and family are also invited to celebrate his life and share stories at a gathering following the memorial at Waller Road Grange, 2708 64th Street East, Tacoma, WA 98404.
