Obituary for Diane L. Umbarger

Diane Lee Umbarger, 75, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2018 at Avamere Nursing Home in Tacoma, WA. She was born July 6, 1943 in Barnum, Minnesota to James and Rosalie Rogers. With her father serving in the army her family moved many times throughout her childhood. While based in Oahu, Hawaii she attended Ka Leilehua H.S. and met Charles Umbarger, an Air Force soldier who was stationed on Wheeler Air Force Base.

After graduating in 1961, her family moved and settled in Tacoma, WA. Charles followed and they were married on Oct. 27,1961. They had two sons Robert and David. Charles passed away in 1974. Diane worked as a bookkeeper for many businesses. One being Modutech Marine where she found her love of hydroplane racing with the Pay-n-Pak.

Diane was an avid bowler, winning many trophies. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. But most of all she loved her boys - they were her life. She is survived by her son Robert Umbarger; brother Robert Rogers and his wife Bee; granddaughter Ashlie Umbarger; daughter-in-law Carolyn Irwin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Umbarger; son David Umbarger; and parents James and Rosalie Rogers.
